Pam: (complaining) No birthday present again. Why did I have to be born on Christmas Day? Did you know that nobody has ever remembered my birthday?
Ken: Considering the time of year, who’s going to remember a mere birthday? It’s Christmas!
Pam: (complaining even more) You get birthday presents every year, and so do Dad and Mom. But all I ever get is combination birthday/Christmas presents. It’s not fair!
Dad: (Dad and Mom enter.) Merry Christmas, Pam. Merry Christmas, Ken.
Ken: Merry Christmas, Dad, Mom.
Pam: It’s also my birthday, you know.
Mom: We know, dear. Merry Christmas.
Dad: Well, let’s all open presents, shall we?
Mom: I wonder what I got from Santa this year!
Ken: Here, Dad! (handing him a gift) Open this one!
The characters ad-lib their parts for a while, with Mom, Dad, and Ken continuing to be enthusiastic about opening Christmas gifts and Pam becoming more and more upset that her birthday is being ignored. Finally, Pam bursts into tears and leaves the room. The others act surprised and annoyed that Pam is making such a big deal over such a “little” thing.
Ken: I wonder what’s gotten into her! What a Scrooge.
